The project “Accessible and sustainable tourism: welcome and advanced communication for the tourist”, promoted by the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno, is one of the 18 projects funded in the national territory under the DM 13.12.2010 of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Development and competitiveness of tourism “Projects for the enhancement and support of the creation and dissemination of innovative services in favor of tourism”.
The project, launched in October 2015, with a total budget of EUR 780,000.00, is structured over 23 months and aims to develop a qualified and innovative offer of affordable, accessible, sustainable and innovative tourist hospitality through the organizational model Of “multiple, diffuse and connected networks” and is also in line with the strategic objective of the Municipal Administration of “Development of the City’s Tourist Vocation”.
The design articulation, in fact, involves the realization of the following actions:
Action 1) The Telematics Network, aimed at the implementation of Ascoli’s web portal, the harmonization of existing tourism websites, the creation of a City Guide and promotion and online marketing.
Action 2) The Knowledge Network, designed for the creation of narratives of places developed through storytelling based on multidisciplinary and multimedia content focused on tourism-cultural valorisation paths, realization of applications for the use of tourist routes and activities animation and communication.
Action 3) The Reception Network, aimed at expanding the network of tourist sites, the timetable and time of opening of the places of interest to improve the tourist offer and the creation of educational workshops for children (L’Altra Italia junior), cultural and touristic routes (L’Altra Ascoli), cultural dissemination, comparison and communication events (APP Ascoli Piceno Present and L’Altra Italia).
Action 4) The Accessibility Network, designed for the design of tactile routes accessible to people with disabilities by means of sensory signage, the creation of appropriate billboards linked to the valorization of Ascoli Piceno, the redevelopment of the museum space “Licini Museum and Sant’Agostino Cloister” with interventions and works to improve accessibility and usability.
Action 5) The Integrated Mobility Network, aimed at promoting sustainable mobility through the enhancement of bicycle tourism services, the installation and commissioning of a cycling shop for maintenance / storage of bicycles and baby parks, the purchase of bicycles (electric bike, normal, for children and tandem for the blind).
